There is a total of 3,072 m2 constructed area the monastery is a prominent example of the type of rural property built at the time. It combines religious, residential and livestock buildings. The monastic way of life was based on isolation and self-sufficiency and they lived in this splendour until the church was built in the 16th century along with the cloisters, refectory and other buildings.
Throughout the 18th century the monastery consolidated its role as an agricultural farm. In the following century, the monastery suffered the spoliation of the French invasion and received a great loss to personal property as a result of the confiscation. From 1838 it was exclusively agricultural, although it did not lose its original monastic structure. At the end of the 20th century the dependencies were the object of deep renovations.
Located in a large country house on the remains of a Roman villa and Muslim farmstead, the Monastery alternates late Gothic style of the church and refectory with the Mudejar style of some of the cloisters and Renaissance and Baroque for the rest. Currently it used as a country house and place of celebrations.
The cloisters, one of the oldest and most valuable parts of the Monastery, are developed on two floors. They do not currently have any use. The church is a beautiful example of Gothic architecture and consists of a rectangular ground plan with side chapels. The vault of starry naves is of great beauty. The wall paintings in the shrine of the Virgin are frequent throughout the building. The church to be secularized, does not allow religious celebrations but is in use for for civil weddings, concerts and exhibitions etc.
The main cloister of the monastery is 23,7 x 23,7 m and consists of two floors. Seven bays x side topped by semicircular arches on thick brick pillars. Inside are the former monk’s cells, currently upgraded as stately room. There are five large bedrooms, three have bathrooms and some rooms have air-conditioning. All are equipped with antique period furniture and have balconies or terraces. There is also a further bathroom. On this floor is the kitchen, lounge, dining room and three further rooms, two have access to the garden, one of them has a terrace.
At the bottom of the main courtyard, next to the church, is the ancient sacristy consisting of two chapels with vaults, one of the most beautiful pieces (and now disused) of the building. The adjacent side is the gatehouse, as well as numerous cells used currently as a warehouse and along with them the winery.
The upper zone is of exclusive use of the family.
